The first of a two-semester sequence that provides an introduction to molecular biology, molecular genetics, and nucleic acid biochemistry. Topics include: physicochemical properties of nucleic acids, major methods of molecular biology, DNA replication and recombination, prokaryotic and eukaryotic transcription, and RNA processing and translation.
