Super Stabilized Radicals
Our research group has studied the effect of the para-phenoxide group on the rate of the methylenecyclopropane rearrangement (a radical reaction). This group is especially effective at stabilizing radicals. It is one of a number of substituents that have special radical stabilizing properties and we call these groups "Super Radical Stabilizers". More of these Super Radical Stabilizers are described in Acc. Chem. Res. 2006, 39, 761.
