Loop A of 5S rRNA
Loop A is a three-way helical junction that provides an important recognition element used by TFIIIA and ribosomal protein L5 for specific binding. Although these two proteins share no sequence similarity, they both appear to contact loop A through a stacking interaction involving A11 in the RNA and an aromatic amino acid in either protein.
