Cation-∏ Networks
The picture shows the extended structure of a cesium amide dimer solvated by neutral ferrocene molecules: [{(Me3Si)2NCs}2•(Cp2Fe)] . This network is unusual being assembled from directional cation-∏ interactions, where the metals are attracted to the electron density on the aromatic rings. The rational assembly of such complexes is of interest in the production of direction magnetic and optical materials. For more information see the paper in Chem. Eur. J. here.
