Bacterial siderophores

Bacteria, both in the environment and in the human body, are able to make a variety of natural products such as these in order to recruit iron. Siderophores and the iron they retrieve are essential to microbial survival. These structures represent siderophores made by the pathogens K. pneumoniae, A. fumigatus, and M. tuberculosis, respectively.
