Chlorite dismutase general active site structure
The reactivity of heme enzymes like chlorite dismutase is controlled largely by the axial ligand and distal pocket amino acids. Protein structure is therefore able to tune the reactivity of this remarkable cofactor toward many different types of reactivity.
